Dear Dr. and Mrs. Berko and Alex,

I'd like to personally welcome Alex as a new patient in our office. It is our goal to make orthodontic treatment as pleasant and rewarding as possible for him.

We have scheduled an examination appointment for Alex on (date) at (time).

During his first visit, we will examine Alex's teeth, point out what, if any, orthodontic problem exists and suggest what kind of treatment would be required to correct the problem.

Feel free to ask any questions or discuss any problems with either myself or any of our staff. We are pleased that you have chosen us to provide this important service, and we're looking forward to including you among our family of friends.

Sincerely,

Dr. Alan Berko

P.S. I have enclosed a letter and a pamphlet that was recently sent to all of our patients.

Dear Alex:

In keeping with our commitment to treat our patients with the best in orthodontic techniques and equipment, we attend continuing education classes. At the last meeting of the American Dental Association, we learned how to take x-rays using significantly less radiation. By acquiring the latest in x-ray equipment and by using special screens, we are able to use faster film. This allows us to decrease the exposure time by 50% and the intensity by an additional 25% without any loss in diagnostic value. This is obviously a significant improvement for all our patients.

We are as concerned as you are about the x-rays that we are all exposed to. Please understand that we will always take the fewest x-rays necessary to provide us with the information we need to provide you with the finest in orthodontic care. The initial radiographs are necessary for proper diagnosis and treatment planning, progress (during treatment) radiographs are necessary for proper and efficient finishing of the tooth movements.

Also, we are able to duplicate your x-rays to send to your general dentist. Our x-rays are not diagnostic for cavities, but there may be other information that (Dentist Name) would want. Your oral surgeon may need them regarding wisdom teeth.

If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to speak with us. As always, we will continue to work with you to obtain the best results possible.

Very truly yours,

Dr. Alan Berko

Dear Dr. and Mrs. Berko and Alex,

I have enclosed a copy of a pamphlet produced by MEDSAFE a company specializing in office sterilization and safety procedures. Our office retained MEDSAFE for the instruction and supervision of our entire staff in implementing, maintaining and certifying all office procedures related to the practice of disinfection and sterilization, and safety in use and disposal of all materials.

As a parent I know that I would expect no less from my children's or my own dentist and physician. Using a specialist in these office procedures reassures me that we are doing all we can to make Alex's treatment as safe as possible for him, for us and for the environment.

Please read the pamphlet. If you would like to discuss it or any related matter, please call.

Sincerely,

Dr. Alan Berko
